Royal Society

The Royal Society is an independent academy, promoting the natural and applied sciences, including engineering. It was founded in 1660 and is incorporated by Royal Charter. The Society has a dual role - as the UK academy of science, acting nationally and internationally, and as a provider of a broad range of services for the UK scientific community in the national interest, responsive to individual demand, with selection by merit, not by field.
