Video: The Bribery Act
We start by learning why the UK has been regarded as something of a soft touch when it comes to the conviction of its corporations and businesses for acts of bribery. We look at the Act's four new offences and our guest, PwC Forensic Services Partner John Tracey, gives us his definition of bribery.
We hear of some recent cases of UK bribery and are warned that the collapse of the Serious Fraud Office's case against BAE, combined with the new government's desire to provide value for money, has increased pressure on the SFO, FSA and the Office of Fair Trading to bring successful convictions.
Our guest sets out the procedures that firms should employ to ensure they don't fall foul of the Act, as well as the possible penalties if they do!
