Video: The new Construction Act – a heads up
The 'Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996' revolutionised the construction industry. The aim of 'Part 2 of the Construction Act' (as it became known) was to reduce industry confrontation, and to facilitate better cashflow and fairer play. The Act provided a statutory right to adjudication and interim payment, as well as setting out how payers and payees should make and receive payments. But now, a consultation process that started in 2004 is finally nearing its end, and the industry is bracing itself for a series of amendments to the Act.
In this programmes Ryland Ash of Alway Associates discusses the proposed amendments and the potential effect on the industry.
