Code for Sustainable Homes – Pollution

An explanation of Global Warming Potential is followed by a discussion on the role of blowing agents in the manufacture of various different insulation materials. We look at these materials, their buildability, and ask why some manufactures quote Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) rather than GWP.

In terms of NOX emissions, up to three credits are available depending on the efficiency of the property's boiler. We look at the figures and discuss what to do if NOX emissions are supplied in parts per million rather than the Code's preferred measurement of mg/kWh.

Our guests explain why, when regarded in context with the Code's Energy category, the pollution category is not necessarily the 'easy win' it seems.
