Video: Trees in the urban environment

This programme sets out why trees are often regarded as a hindrance to development and a cause of subsidence and other insurance claims.

It explores the key documentation covering the treatment of trees in relation to the overarching 1990 Planning Act. British Standard 5837, a pivotal document in terms of trees in the urban environment, is also discussed.

Finally, Tree Preservation Orders, advice on working in conservation areas and the aims of the newly formed Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG) are also highlighted.
