British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC)

BASEC is an accredited third party Certification Body, and certificates major cable and wire manufacturers and their products. It has approval schemes for system management, installers, stockists, instruments, rod-rolling (foundries), extrusions, conduits, glands and cordsets. It is Government-nominated to European Institutions such as HAR, European Commission notified body for Low Voltage Directive and works with other professional bodies in the evaluation and assessment of any new cable product or ancillary component coming onto the UK market.
