Video: Managing Asbestos

Sarah Mallagh, head of the Health and Safety Executive's Asbestos Unit, runs through the different types of asbestos; where it can be found and the diseases (such as mesothelioma and lung cancer) that are caused by breathing in asbestos fibres.

We are reminded of the overarching laws, codes of practice and guides that relate to asbestos in the built environment before moving on to Regulation 4 in the aforementioned 2006 Regulationss.

The remainder of the programme focuses on the duty holder's responsibilities to the building's occupants and to any external building contractors that may undertake work on or in it. We also learn the subtle differences between an asbestos survey and an inspection.
