Abstract

Considers all forms of assessment systems and methods. Comments on their practical use, when and where their use is relevant, and the range and quality of the information they produce. Encompasses all bridge elements, substructure and superstructure. Defines how data can be obtained and interpreted, especially in terms of present condition and future life. Outlines the likely actions required in terms of structural implications and recommendations on maintenance and management to meet the bridge owners’ functional and financial needs.
