Abstract

Gives an analysis of the responses received from the 2012 consultation for changes to the Building Regulations in England. This report is structured in four sections to reflect that of the consultation: Section One - Introduction to the consultation package and proposals on Parts A, B, C, K, M and N, Access Statements, security, Changing Places toilets and Regulation 7. Section Two - proposals for changes relating to Part L (Conservation of fuel and power). Section Three - proposals relating to electrical safety in dwellings. Section Four - proposed changes to the building control system.

Document History

Relates to the consultation documents issued by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) in January 2012, proposing changes to technical and procedural aspects of the Building Regulations to ensure they remain proportionate and fit-for purpose. This consultation was in four sections. Section one outlined the consultation approach and then presented proposals to change various technical aspects of the regulations. Section two outlined proposals to increase the energy efficiency of buildings. Section three contained proposals in relation to electrical safety in homes. Section four outlined changes to the building control system. The consultation related to changes in England only as powers for making Building Regulations in relation to Wales were transferred to Welsh Ministers on 31 December 2011.
