Abstract

Concerns the selection, installation, inspection and maintenance of water-based, foam, powder, carbon dioxide and wet chemical portable fire extinguishers, fitted with the pressure relief device defined in European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC.

Superseded by IS 291:2015 (+A1:2022). Supersedes IS 291:2002. Transition Arrangements from IS 291:2002 to IS 291:2015 - It is expected that all new PFEs selected, commissioned, installed and maintained to this Standard will fully comply within 12 months of its publication.
