Abstract

These revised indices of deprivation (ID) are an important tool for identifying the most disadvantaged areas in England, and offer an in-depth approach to pinpointing small pockets of deprivation. This report contains seven domains which relate to income deprivation, employment deprivation, health deprivation and disability, education, skills and training deprivation, barriers to housing and services, living environment deprivation and crime.

Due to errors in the main report English indices of deprivation 2004 (ODPM, 2004), this document has been issued which includes revised tables. To be read with Updating the English indices of deprivation 2004 - stage two ‘blueprint’ consultation report (DCLG, 2007).
