Internationally-acclaimed, discreet fittings provide the designer with the tools to deliver outstanding lighting for both interiors and landscapes. Each product maximizes the light output whilst minimizing size to ensure the most successful effects and lighting scheme. We pay close attention to detail to ensure the optimum results, and use state-of-the-art technology throughout; all products are designed in-house and manufactured in the UK using the latest technology to ensure colour consistency, high CRI/TM30 and excellent controllability.

Sally Storey is the Creative Director who inspires the growing team of lighting designers. In September 2014, Sally was joined by Chief Executive Officer Peter van der Kolk, who runs the business side of John Cullen Lighting. In 2016, we expanded internationally, opening a new office in Dubai, closely followed in 2017 by a new office in India to look after the projects in these regions and beyond.

Working more closely with B2B clients has been central to the growth of John Cullen Lighting. Whether architects, interior designers or developers, we ensure that from an early stage we understand their needs to deliver a tailor-made, end-to-end service to ensure the smooth running of the project from design to commissioning.

We have found that delivering our five RIBA accredited CPDs has opened doors to potential architects and specifiers, and strengthened relationships with existing ones. As leading lighting experts, it has allowed us to maintain this position, and to educate architects and specifiers on the power of light.

When reaching out to architects and specifiers, we place the RIBA accredited CPDs at the forefront of our promotion. Whether through email, an introduction or telephone conversations, our Sales team finds the approach of offering a CPD a great door-opener, as well as providing an excellent means of going back to a specifier to see if we can work with them on any project.

Having RIBA approved CPD seminars and other materials gives our clients the reassurance that they will be seeing a valuable CPD from which they will learn. The assessment process certainly helped us create a stronger CPD, having received excellent feedback and ideas as part of RIBA’s CPD approval process.

Currently John Cullen offers RIBA accredited CPDs delivered in-house at our showroom on fixed dates throughout the year, or at architects’ offices around the UK. Both work equally well at delivering the message, but when attending the CPD seminar at our office, specifiers have the added advantage of being able to witness the power of light in our demonstration showroom, as well as gaining CPD. This enriches the CPD experience, adding yet further knowledge and expertise about lighting, and how our products are used in the final build.

CPD events are organized by both the Sales team and Marketing, with both reaching out to see who is keen to learn more about lighting. Each event is followed up with CPD certificates and notes to help the attendee remember the learning aims. We have always found audiences to be very engaged, and numerous projects have resulted due to architects and specifiers attending them.

Presenting at a RIBA CPD Roadshow further opened up our brand to a new audience. The well-run events were a new platform for us and the seminar, combined with the area where our products are showcased, allowed the audience to discover more about our company, products and brand. We found the experience extremely rewarding as the Sales team were able to make new leads and convert these into new projects.

We recognize the need for architects, specifiers and construction industry professionals in general to keep up to date with industry developments, innovation in products, legislation and regulations. We want to make sure that we offer the expertise and knowledge needed. We became a member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network and have had our CPD materials approved by the RIBA, benefitting from their experience for the ultimate seal of quality. As with our products, we want to make sure that we deliver the highest quality of customer service and training for the construction industry.
