Collaborative forms of construction contracts are set to become the primary form of contracts used for projects. Commentators agree that collaborative contracts are particularly well-suited to incorporate Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and the Government Construction Strategy report emphasises its preference for such contracts.

Collaborative contracts should achieve consistently fewer disputes, more savings and better quality projects delivered on time.

So what are collaborative construction contracts? How are they managed? What legal issues need consideration and what options do you have in terms of the standard forms available?

To address these issues NBS, in collaboration with Bond Dickinson LLP , presents Understanding collaborative construction contracts [LINK REMOVED - NO LONGER CURRENT]. This seminar brings together legal specialists with extensive experience in construction to present their thoughts regarding the four main 'standard form' collaborative contracts.

This half day seminar will be introduced by a keynote address from a senior industry figure. In addition, the following will be speaking:

• Peter Fraser, QC. Atkin Chambers , will discuss collaboration under the JCT Contracts
• Professor Rudi Klein, President of the Specialist Engineering Contractors Group and President of the NEC 3 user group, will discuss collaboration under the NEC 3 contracts
• Assad Maqbool, Partner at Trowers and Hamlins LLP  and one of the contributors to the PPC 2000 will discuss collaboration under PPC 2000
• Keith Pickavance, well known author on delay and disruption, Executive Consultant at Hill International  and one of the authors of the CIOB Complex Projects Contract (CPC2013) will discuss collaboration under CPC 2013.

In addition, you will hear presentations on recent changes to the law with regards to consultant liabilities from Emily Monastiriotis and David Skelton, partners in the Construction & Engineering team at Bond Dickinson LLP, and a brief on the recently concluded NBS National Construction Contracts and Legal Issues Survey from Roland Finch and Darya Bahram.
