Summary

The officesettings.xml file can be used to automatically pre-define paths for all users within Tools > My settings > File locations paths.

This is mainly used for users who have a Network setup and to ensure all users are pointing to the same paths on the server. A user can then go through updating that server location once, which in turn will affect all other users.

More information

Step 1

To access this file, the user must first make sure they are pointing to the correct officesettings.xml file on the server - all users must check this on their individual machines to be affected. They can do this via the following:

1. Log into the NBS Software as an administrator.

2. Go to Tools > My settings > File locations tab.

3. Check that the 'Office Settings File Location:' path on the bottom is pointing to the officesettings.xml file within the Network server of where it is unpacked to. If not, click on the button with the 3 dots next to it and browse to that file. (Please Note: You won't be able to copy and paste or type in the paths, only browse.)

4. Click OK to accept the changes then restart the software.

Step 2

To manually edit the Office Settings file (only one user is required to do this):

1. Log into the NBS Software as an administrator.

2. Go to Tools > Administrator Tools > Office settings... > File locations:

office_settings_file_01

4. As default, they may be set to [not set]. Using the button against each path, you'll need to manually browse to the relevant paths and click OK. (Please Note: You won't be able to copy and paste or type in the paths, only browse.)

5. Click OK to save the changes and restart the software.
