G20 Carpentry/ timber framing/ First fixing
Technical changes because of updated reference documents.
M60 Painting/ Clear finishing Principal updated changes: H&S references in general guidance, including: CDM 2015;
COSHH; REACH; GHS.
Nomenclature changes: ‘oil based’ coatings changed to ‘solvent-borne’; ‘water based’
coatings changed to ‘water-borne’.
N91 External signage and interpretation Key technical changes in response to harmonized standards and CE marking.
Q28 Topsoil and soil ameliorants Section updated with BS 1377-2, BS 3882, BS 8601 and BS EN ISO 17892-1.
BS 4043 removed from section following its withdrawal, and replaced by BS 8545.
Further technical enhancements have also been carried out to reflect current industry practice.

Section references to BS EN 10223-2, BSPB/STRI Turfgrass Seed Booklet,
TGA Quality Standards for Cultivated Turf, JCLI Practice Note 8 and Practice Note 9 updated.
Content updated to include Flora Locale’s ‘Code of practice for collectors, growers and suppliers of native flora’ and DEFRA/HSE’s ‘Pesticides: Code of practice for using plant protection products’.
Q31 External planting Section updated with BS 8545, TRADA Wood Information Sheets, BS 4428 and BS EN 301. BS 4043 (Recommendations for transplanting root-balled trees) removed from section following its withdrawal. Further technical enhancements have also been carried out to reflect current industry practice.
Q32 Internal and artificial planting Section updated with TRADA Wood Information Sheets, BS 8500, BS EN 301 and BS EN ISO 105-B02. References to Health Technical Memorandum’s omitted. References to the withdrawn standards BS 4043 and BS 3837 have been removed and replaced by
BS 8545 and BS EN ISO 13501-1 respectively.
Q35 Landscape maintenance References to Arboricultural Association Guidance Note 8, BS 3247, BS 3882, BS 3998, BS 5837, JCLI Contracts and PAS 100 updated. Forestry Commission and Natural England’s guidance on grant schemes, Environment Agency guidance on Japanese Knotweed and WRAP’s guidance on the use  of compost materials updated. Blackwell Publishing’s Plant User Handbook, BS 8545, CPSE’s Handling and establishing landscape plants and DEFRA’s Code of practice for using plant protection products added to reference list. References to ARA leaflets have been removed since the omission
of these guidance documents. Additional guidance on the protection of nesting birds added.
Q50 Site/ street furniture/ equipment References to BS 8417, BS 8500-2, BS EN 301, Fieldfare Trust Ltd guidance, TRADA Wood Information Sheets and Wood Protection Association guidance notes updated. Reference to BS 8900 omitted as no longer relevant to the section. New clause for scooter racks added, together with technical improvements to bollard and cycle stand clauses.
Q52 Play and sports equipment Section updated with BS 8500-2, BS EN 748, BS EN 1176-1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7 and -11, FA football goal guidance and TRADA Wood Information Sheets. References to API standard form of contract, BS 1282 and CPC ‘Planning for Play’ documents removed following their withdrawal. BS 8417 and FIT outdoor play facility guidance added. Further technical enhancements have also been carried out to reflect current industry practice.

Following the introduction of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 on April 6, JCT has issued amendments to their contracts. Updated preliminaries were included in your 2015-2 July update. Preliminaries for ICC Minor Works Version, Amendment ICC/CDM/May2015, are also now included.

D20 Excavating and filling Reference documents including legislation updated and new clause added to cover product ‘Concrete impregnated fabric’.
E10 Mixing/ Casting/ Curing in situ concrete Changes due to updates of BS EN 206(incorporating BS EN 206-9), BS 8500-1 and BS 8500-2. Updates in reference documents.
M40 Stone/ Concrete/ Quarry/ Ceramic tiling/ Mosaic Key change to respond closer to wording of BS EN 13139.
R12 Below ground drainage systems Wording in clauses 757 and 759 has been changed to improve specification of the connection of drainage branches into the main channel. BS 7158 for plastics inspection chambers has been withdrawn.
