Work Sections

With regards to the use of the standards in content these can be used as you do now with the following minor amendments where needed:

BS EN - The content within the standard is the same as the EN version, therefore when citing a standard within the specification the BS prefix just needs to be omitted, in the near future we will be adding links in the NBS Publications index to where copies of the IS EN’s can be obtained in addition to the BS EN.

BS EN with a UK national Annex - The content is based on the EN but the annex reflects the requirements for the UK, the user will need to check if there is a national Annex for Ireland or just to cite the IS EN, in the near future, we will be adding links in the NBS publication index to where copies of the IS EN’s and any Ireland Annexes can be obtained in addition to the BS EN.

BS ISO, BS IEC etc - The content within the standard is the same as the ISO or IEC version, therefore when citing a standard within the specification the BS prefix just needs to be omitted, in the near future, we will be adding links in the NBS publication index to where copies of the ISO/IEC version can be obtained in addition to the BS ISO/BS IEC.

BS – These are currently already cited and used in specification content where there is no alternative and therefore can continue to be used in Ireland, if there is an equivalent Irish standard then in the near future we will be adding links in the NBS Publications index to where copies of the Irish equivalent can be obtained.

hEN - The content within the standard is the same for the UK and Ireland so no amendments are needed, soon we will be adding links in the NBS publication index to where copies of the IS EN’s can be obtained in addition to the BS EN.

ISO – As these are international standards they can be used in both UK and Ireland, links to these can be found in the NBS Publications Index.

Eurocodes – These are currently already cited in content and will continue to do so in the future, in addition in the near future we will be adding links in the NBS Publications index to where copies of the IS EN’s can be obtained in addition to the BS EN.

CE marking - The content and guidance already refer to CE marking and will continue to do so in addition to having information on UKCA and UKNI.

Building Regulations – The guidance within the content already makes reference to the need to consult with the Ireland Building regulations, as it does for the appropriate regulations for the rest of the UK, in the near future we will be adding links in the NBS Publications Index to where copies of the Ireland Building regulations can be obtained.
