|Produce specifications for building projects
A specification is a pivotal factor in the success of any building project, and an essential part of the design process. A badly–written specification can cause major problems for every member of the project team, and can cost the client a great deal of money. A well-written specification can enhance project delivery and save money. Construction professionals recognise the need for clear, concise and up-to-date specifications, but the cost of keeping an in-house system up to date is prohibitive to most offices. This is why master specification systems like NBS are used worldwide. Authored by our in-house team of architects, NBS Building offers construction professionals the ability to create up-to-date specifications for a wide variety of building projects. Available in three different levels of service, solutions for complex, large, simple and small projects can all be found in NBS Building.
Alternatively, if your work involves refurbishment and alterations, and you need a flexible specification system that produces schedules of work, NBS Scheduler will probably be the solution for you. It offers templates but allows you to build a schedule of works in any structure, to suit your project, and it also produces a reference specification automatically.
If you have a one-off domestic scale project like a single house extension, you may prefer to use the new NBS Domestic Specification, available from RIBA Bookshops. No software is involved – this is a paper based system, and you don’t need to be “a professional” to use it.
