Video: Professional ethics for engineers
Being a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers is seen across the world as a badge of integrity and good faith. Members of the Institution are required to observe the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
The ICE provides a Code of Professional Conduct which lays down, both for its members and for the general public, the ethical standards by which its members should abide. The ICE also provides additional, separate guidance to its members on broader ethical issues in its Advice on Ethical Conduct.
All ICE members must act according to the Code of Professional Conduct, but they do not have to follow the Advice on Ethical Conduct, except for those sections dealing with bribery and corruption.
This programme takes a look at both the ICE Code of Professional Conduct and Advice on Ethical Conduct.
