Heath and safety plans

This module will be developed at a later date.

The preparation and use of health and safety plans are taught in construction-sector courses at UK universities, as part of general training in construction-sector occupational health and safety, under pressure from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the professions. This pressure is a direct result of the high number of injuries and fatalities in the construction sector.

The HSE website offers Want construction work done safely? A quick guide for clients on the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 INDG411, HSE.

The Construction Skills website features other industry-authored guidance, including:

  • For the role of the client: CITB (2007) Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 - Industry guidance for small, one-off and infrequent clients CDM07/1, CS.
  • For the role of CDM Co-ordinators: CITB (2007) Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 - Industry guidance for CDM Co-ordinators CDM07/2, CS.
  • For the role of the designer: CITB (2007) Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 - Industry guidance for designers CDM07/4, CS.
  • For the Health and Safety Plan during the construction phase: CITB (2007) Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 - Industry guidance Annex E: The construction phase plan, CS.
