The 2016 event is set to be bigger and better than ever with more than 40,000 people expected through the doors to take part in a lively mix of conference and seminar events with a wide range of exhibitors from across the construction industry all under one roof.

This year the conference spotlight falls on core areas of industry growth and market priorities – including housing, design, infrastructure, the skills gap, technology and wellbeing.

The programme will see a range of high-profile personalities from the construction industry and media talking housing and architecture, while looking towards the next generation, the drivers of growth and what is new and inspiring in construction.

Highlights include:

• What makes good housing? Featuring Dave Sheridan from Keepmoat, Tony Pidgley from Berkley Group and architecture critic Rowan Moore.
• Street life – city growth through regeneration with Alan Sitkin from Regents University and David Waterhouse from Design Council Cabe.

CPD-accredited learning hubs offer learning opportunities for all including focussed sessions on design, building performance, energy and #buildcircular.

NBS have created a programme of activity especially for the Digital Building hub – including an introduction to BIM for manufacturers, practical advice for construction professionals and an exploration of how best to co-ordinate BIM through the project timeline.

Elsewhere, the Infrastructure revolution learning hub brings together high-profile clients and contractors to focus on the effective delivery of huge government investment and the possibilities for exceptional form and wellbeing as well as function.

The Discover social hub is also set to be a must-visit to see shortlisted talents from the Architect of the Year Awards. It will also be the focus for Ecobuild’s Big Innovation Pitch. The competition aims to discover green construction solutions that will help in the creation of a sustainable build environment. Finalists include Actimass Ltd (thermal mass solutions), Air2eu (which ‘creates water out of thin air’), Skanska Facilities Services (bespoke facilities management), Tadpole Energy Ltd (specialist heating efficiency) and Waterblade (a water saving fitting). The final day of the show will see the companies pitching to the judging panel to win the chance to take their product innovation further with Marks and Spencer.
