UK-made Rapidor high-speed doors
A key part of Tekta's portfolio is its Rapidor range of UK-made high-speed doors, developed for optimum temperature and hygiene control across demanding industrial and controlled environments.
Rapidor Impact: The Rapidor Impact is a UK-made, high-speed, self-repairing door for frequently used openings where an effective barrier is required without restricting operational efficiency. Opening at speeds of up to 2.0m/s, its zipper-edge curtain creates an effective seal and enables the curtain to self-repair following an impact, helping reduce maintenance costs and downtime. It is suited to food production, distribution and warehouse environments.
Rapidor Chill: Developed for temperature-controlled chiller environments, the Rapidor Chill combines opening speeds of up to 2.5m/s with a 7mm insulated curtain. Its zipper-edge system provides an effective seal and allows the curtain to self-repair following an impact. Typical applications include food production, pharmaceutical facilities, warehouses and chilled areas where temperature control must be maintained without compromising productivity.
Rapidor Freeze: The Rapidor Freeze is a UK-made dual-curtain high-speed freezer door designed for frequent operation in sub-zero environments. A 250mm heated airlock between its curtains uses a 2.35kW air blower to maintain a positive temperature and help prevent icing. Capable of operating down to -25°C and opening at up to 1.8m/s, it is designed for cold rooms, blast chillers, chilled logistics, food factories and pharmaceutical facilities.
Rapidor Inox: Designed for hygiene-critical food-processing environments, the Rapidor Inox combines rapid operation with hygienic stainless-steel construction. Its compact headbox incorporates a 15-degree angle to discourage water and debris build-up, while its stainless-steel frame provides corrosion resistance for washdown environments. Applications include food production, meat processing, bakeries, dairy and beverage production, and fruit and vegetable processing.
Rapidor Pharma: The Rapidor Pharma is designed for cleanrooms, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities and other controlled environments requiring hygienic construction and low air permeability. Tested by Fraunhofer for suitability in cleanrooms up to ISO 5 specification, it can incorporate 304 or 316 stainless steel and an optional HRS magnetic seal providing Class 5 air permeability. Opening speeds of up to 2.5m/s help maintain productive traffic flows while its self-repairing system reduces disruption following impacts.
Case study: Cranswick Country Foods
Tekta's work with Cranswick Country Foods demonstrates how specialist doors can be combined within a coordinated package for a demanding food-production environment. As part of Cranswick's £31m prepared poultry facility in Hull, Tekta delivered a £460,000 specialist door package, incorporating 12 Rapidor Impact high-speed doors alongside Thermidor Freeze doors, fire shutters and stainless-steel personnel doors.
The combination addressed multiple performance requirements across the facility, including rapid movement through production areas, temperature control, fire separation and hygienic pedestrian access. By coordinating different door types as one integrated package, Tekta was able to support the wider construction programme while ensuring each doorway responded to the operational demands of the environment. The project demonstrates Tekta's ability to deliver substantial specialist door packages that bring together high-speed access, hygiene, temperature control and fire protection while supporting production flow and long-term operational reliability.
