Abstract
Transport of perishable commodities may be as simple as a direct delivery from farm to market by a small truck. However, they are more likely to travel to distant markets intermodally, that is, by some combination of highway, ocean, and railroad. This chapter describes the vehicles and refrigeration equipment that preserve perishable commodities as they travel. Additional details may be found in the section on Bibliography.
