Abstract
Joints are an essential part of any structure and in timber structures they are often the most critical parts in design. It is not uncommon for the timber sections sizes in a structure to be determined by the joints, rather than their load carrying capacity. Therefore the design of joints is an important section of any design code, and particularly so for timber. This WI Sheet provides an introduction to the design rules for joints used in EC5.
