Abstract
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) defines a unitary air conditioner as one or more factory made assemblies that normally include an evaporator or cooling coil and a compressor and condenser combination. It may include a heating function as well. ARI defines an air-source unitary heat pump as consisting of one or more factory-made assemblies, which normally include an indoor conditioning coil, compressor(s), and an outdoor coil. It must provide a heating function and possibly a cooling function as well.
