Abstract
Aims to impart an understanding of the physical basis of architectural design. Addresses heat, light, sound and resources. For each of these relevant physical principles are reviewed and their relationship to people in terms of comfort and human requirements are discussed. Examines passive control functions and associated installations (energy-using active controls) and how these can be considered in design. Includes data sheets and methods sheets, describing some calculation and design methods.
