Abstract
Supports Technical Advice Note 24: Historic environment, comprising detailed guidance for understanding and managing World Heritage Sites (WHS) in Wales. Looks at the governance of WHS covering the international, UK and Welsh contexts; explains Outstanding Universal Value and how to reduce adverse impact on it; details the use of management plans, monitoring and state of conservation reports; highlights planning policy issues including local development plans, supplementary planning guidance, buffer zones and setting; and discusses the management of development in WHS covering applications for various types of heritage consent, applications for planning permission, consultation with Cadw, permitted development rights, environmental impact assessments, call-in and referral to the World Heritage Committee.
