Abstract
The probability of frost attack on newly laid mortar increases in temperatures below 0°C. Disruption of the bond can be affected by water freezing and expanding. Self-healing and resealing of cracks over time can be encouraged with the inclusion of free lime in the mix. Advises on precautions to be taken when using mortar in winter conditions.
