Building Bulletin 28 Playing fields and hard surface areas

Publication Year

1982

Document Status

Withdrawn

Abstract

BB28 is concerned with the quantity and quality of provision of outdoor physical education (PE) facilities and offers examples of ways in which playing fields might be laid out to cater for a variety of activities in schools of different types and sizes. It also gives detailed information related to the individual requirements of a wide range of sports and games which might be included in a school curriculum. It does not include detailed technical guidance on the construction and maintenance of playing fields but includes an appendix that lists organisations that can advise on turf and synthetic surfaces. Section 8 of this bulletin is a guide to the economic considerations which need to be taken into account.
