NBS, the leading global provider of technical information, specification and BIM tools to construction industry professionals, has announced the appointment of Chris Blaxall as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Chris will join as a group executive director, working alongside CEO Richard Waterhouse and COO Helen Whitfield and will have both a strategic and commercial role to support future growth initiatives for NBS in the UK and overseas.  The appointment follows the recent £31.8m investment in the business by LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, which will see the business strengthen its future product development and international growth plans.

Richard Waterhouse said, “I’m very pleased to announce that Chris will be joining NBS as Chief Financial Officer. Chris is a highly experienced and commercial CFO with a track-record of adding strategic value to high growth companies and I look forward to working with him.”

Chris brings multi sector experience and a background of operating in financial and non-financial roles as both an executive and non-executive director.  Until recently, Chris spent four years as CFO at Partnerize (previously Performance Horizon) during which time the business saw revenue grow tenfold, offices were opened around the world in San Francisco, New York, Tokyo, Hamburg and Newcastle and the team grew from 35 to 200.

His international experience also included eight years in Australia, as a corporate finance partner with Deloitte specialising in advising private equity and venture capital backed businesses.

Chris also brings significant private equity and transactional experience to his new role.  At Partnerize, he helped complete three fund raising rounds from overseas investors and has been involved in a number of trade sales both as an executive director/shareholder and as an adviser.

On starting his new role, Chris said, “I am delighted to be joining NBS at this hugely exciting time.  The business is well placed to grow significantly over the coming years and with LDC’s recent investment, the global growth ambitions of the business can now be realised.  It is fantastic to be joining the great team here at NBS; another great North East SaaS technology success story, based in heart of Newcastle.”

Chris will be responsible for all finance, legal, partnerships, facilities, compliance and IT matters together with other corporate finance initiatives at NBS.

  • Construction Information Service (CIS). Standards and regulations.

CIS is delivered via a joint venture with IHS Markit. This relationship has successfully prospered for many years.

Our products are recognised as being individually effective in their own right, but via the linking of the data, classification and integration, the true power comes through these connections across the NBS BIM platform. Combining world leading technology with expert knowledge, NBS is trusted to help construction industry professionals make the best project decisions.
