Sets out the EA’s position on managing and protecting both the quality and availability of groundwater. Provides an overview of the organisation’s approach and aims. Explains why a framework (the GP3, Groundwater Protection: Policy and Practice) is necessary. Considers the role of groundwater, threats to it, and long-term trends for the resource. Justifies the EA’s risk-based approach to protection and predicts future challenges.
