Abstract
Discusses the Henley Halebrown designed hybrid building combining a 350-pupil primary school and 68 homes on the site of a former fire station. The 11-storey apartment block shields the three-storey school from the noise and pollution of a busy London street, allowing for a spacious courtyard playground. The design integrates social infrastructure, with seating areas embedded into the school’s façade to encourage community interaction. Constructed with a concrete frame and red brick façade, the project references the area's civic architecture, using precast and in-situ elements to emphasize robustness, texture, and thermal efficiency while creating a cohesive urban presence.
