Abstract

Provides practical guidance for complying with building regulation requirements relating to: fire safety matters within and around buildings. The 5 main requirements cover: means of warning and escape; internal fire spread (linings); internal fire spread (structure); external fire spread; and access and facilities for the fire service. Approved Document B (fire safety) has been published in two volumes. This volume (Volume 1) deals with dwellings and blocks of flats and Volume 2 deals with all other types of building covered by the Building Regulations. Includes provisions for second stairs and evacuation lifts in taller residential buildings.
