Abstract
Provides guidance on using the phenolphthalein test to determine carbonation depth in order to evaluate whether steel reinforcement is at risk of corrosion. This standard is not to be used in situations where the concrete is made with calcium aluminate cement. Testing can be performed on site or in a laboratory using cores or fragments removed from the hardened concrete structure.
