Abstract
Guidance for substitution of electronic components used in manufacturing electronic equipment. This document is to be used by both procurement and design personnel. Guidance is given on both the safe and not safe use of “better than” characteristics for components. Also covers how to deal with changes in quality approval systems which are applicable to electronic components. This guidance may be helpful but is not intended for maintenance personnel for replacement of defective components in the field.
