This guide presents a collection of case studies illustrating the application of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) principles across diverse UK development projects. It builds on CIRIA’s good practice guidance and demonstrates practical approaches to embedding biodiversity enhancement in planning, design, and construction. The case studies cover sectors including housing, transport, energy, and infrastructure, highlighting strategies such as habitat creation, offsetting, stakeholder engagement, and long-term management. By showcasing innovative solutions and lessons learned, the document aims to support developers, planners, and environmental professionals in delivering measurable biodiversity improvements and aligning with emerging policy and sustainability goals.
