Abstract

Sets out the legislative framework for street works by undertakers and works for road purposes, providing practical guidance. Balances the rights of highway authorities with road users to minimise disruption and enable works to be carried out safely and efficiently. Reflects changes made to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) by the Traffic Management Act 2004 with regard to permit schemes and the necessary works required to implement them effectively.
