Abstract

Gives requirements for resistance, serviceability, durability and fire resistance of steel structures.

Superseded by BS EN 1993-1-2:2024. This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS 5950-8:2003 and DD ENV 1993-1-2:2001. Amendment 16290 is Corrigendum No.1 dated June 2006 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum December 2005. Amendment 16572 is Corrigendum No.2 dated 29 September 2006 - Revision of national foreword and supersession details. Amendment dated 28 February 2010 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum March 2009. To enable EN 1993-1-2 to be used in the UK, the NDPs have been published in a National Annex, which has been issued separately by BSI.
