Abstract

Specifies requirements for the construction, dimensions and mechanical and electrical properties of insulated flexible cords for operation at voltages up to and including 300V a.c. to earth and 500V a.c. between conductors, intended for use with appliances and equipment in domestic or similar environments for light or ordinary duty.

Supersedes BS 6500:1994. Partially supersedes BS 6141:1991. The provisions introduced by AMD No.2:2004 are effective from 1 April 2004. The version of this standard incorporating only amendment No.1:2002 remains current until 31 March 2006. Amendment 15407 is Corrigendum No.1. Confirmed October 2005.
