Abstract

Applies to the basis for the design of buildings and civil engineering works in unreinforced, reinforced, prestressed and confined masonry, dealing with the requirements for ductility, strength, resistance, serviceability and durability of structures.

Document History

Superseded by BS EN 1996-1-1:2022. This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS 5628-1:2005, BS 5628-2:2005, BS 5628-3:2005, BS EN 1996-1-1:2005, DD ENV 1996-1-1:1996, and DD ENV 1996-1-3:2001. To enable BS EN 1996-1-1:2005+A1:2012 to be used in the UK, the latest version of the NA to this Standard containing these Nationally determined parameters (NDPs) should be used. At the time of publication, it is NA to BS EN 1996-1-1:2005+A1:2012. Amendment 16209 is Corrigendum No.1 dated February 2006 - Revision of supersession details. Amendment dated 31 December 2009 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum July 2009. Amendment dated 30 April 2013 - Implementation of CEN amendment A1:2012.
