Technical Note TN 23/97 Heating controls in large spaces

Publication Year

1997

Document Status

Abstract

Effective sensors, controls and control algorithms are crucial to the provision of optimal comfort and efficient performance of all heating systems but there are particular problems in large spaces such as factories, warehouses, maintenance depots etc. In such places users tend to over compensate for evident control difficulties by turning up thermostats resulting in over heated buildings and up to 20% wasted energy. This report contains practical guidance on the improvement of heating controls in large spaces.
