Abstract

Examines the risk factors, assessment and management of unexploded ordnance (UXO) within the marine environment. Guidance provided covers a variety of marine activities such as: maritime civil engineering, geotechnical investigations, offshore renewable energy, dredging, subsea cabling, oil and gas, flood and coastal management, ports and harbours and power stations and utilities. Sets the context for discovering UXO, looks at detonation mechanisms and the effects for the marine environment, establishes legal and regulatory requirements, risk management, threat assessment and mitigation.
