Prepared on the basis of replies from 28 countries to a questionnaire on environment and local authorities. Intended to identify points of convergence and divergence observed in the types of management adopted for the administration of: the supply and distribution of drinking water; sanitation, sewage treatment and main-drainage; collection, disposal or recycling of household waste; and planning and control of land use.
