Advice Note 4 Electrochemical rehabilitation of steel reinforced concrete structures

Abstract

Examines causes of steel reinforcement corrosion and describes electrochemical remedial options available and where they are appropriate to use. Illustrates how designers can prevent deterioration and looks at possible solutions. Also reports on cathodic protection or cathodic prevention. Concludes that regular assessment of the condition of the structure, application of the most suitable remediation procedure when required are essential for controlling and arresting steel corrosion.
