Representing joint industry and government commitment to reducing the carbon footprint and natural resource consumption by the construction industry and to ensure the sustainable agenda is embraced at design and build stages. Aims to clarify sustainability regulations, initiatives and standards. Provides targets on the various sustainability issues: procurement, design, innovation, people, better regulation, climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, water, biodiversity, waste and materials.

The Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform was formerly known as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Also known as Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). In June 2009, this department merged with the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) to form the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).
