Document History

In England replaced by NBS Building Regulations 2010: Approved Documents K Protection from falling, collision and impact (2013 edition) on 6 April 2013. In Wales replaced by WG Building Regulations 2010: Approved Documents K Protection from falling, collision and impact (1998 edition incorporating 2000 and 2010 amendments) (WG, 2010) Building regulation powers were devolved to Wales on 31 December 2011. The documents current on 31 December 2011 will continue to apply to Wales. As guidance is reviewed and changes made separate Welsh Approved Documents will be published. For use in Wales: See also: Amendments to the Approved Documents (WG, 2013). Supersedes the 1992 edition. 2nd edition 1997 - 7th impression 2002, reprint 2006. Reprinted December 2010 with corrections. Main changes made by the 2010 amendments: This 1998 edition, incorporating the 2000 and 2010 amendments reflects the changes made as a result of the Building Regulations 2010 and Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2010. The changes mainly reflect regulation number changes as a result of re-ordering. There have been no amendments to the substantive requirements in Schedule 1 (i.e. Parts A to P) of the Building Regulations. Please note the simplification of the definition of 'room for residential purposes' in regulation 2 of the Building Regulations 2010. Please also note that L1(c) has now become regulation 40.
