Abstract

The 2001 Code of practice will be updated to reflect changes in legislation, including the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act and the CDM regulations. The update will also extend the application to all roads except dual carriageways with a speed limit of 50 mph or higher and motorways, clarify statutory application for works for road purposes in England and Wales, there is also improvement to guidance covering risk assessment, the needs of cyclists, mobile and short-term works, railway level crossings or near trams, safety of unattended sites, maintaining consistency with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and use of high visibility clothing.
