Abstract

Sets the European and National minimum standards to be followed by train and station operators to ensure facilities are accessible and to make travelling easier for people with disabilities. Sections covered include: staff training, information and pre-travel information, station location, car parking, set-down and pick-up points, unobstructed progress, doors, lighting, floors, furniture, walls and transparent obstacles, signs, announcements, help points, ticket sales points, seating, toilets, crossing the track including subways, lifts, ramps, steps and stairs, platform lifts for boarding trains, escalators, platforms, waiting rooms and shelters, substitute transport, connecting transport.
