Abstract

Provides advice to ensure that there is an adequate and steady supply of silica sand for the industries which require it, and at the same time emphasises that supply must be maintained at the best balance of social environmental and economic cost, whilst ensuring that extraction and development are consistent with the principles of sustainable development. It encourages efforts to recycle, to reduce the impact of extraction on the environment.
