Abstract

Summarises the results of the research conducted on behalf of English Heritage and the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) into conservation provision within English local authorities. The research sets out to collect a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data including information about staffing levels, budgets, skills and salaries, organisational structures, and workloads. In addition, the survey sought to gain an impression of the quality of service offered by local authorities and the internal and external relationships enjoyed by conservation specialists.
