Heritage counts 2005 - the state of England's historic environment
Fourth annual survey of the state of England's historic environment. Identifies the principle trends affecting the historic environment and the threats and challenges faces by those responsible for managing it in a sustainable way. Assesses the extent and condition of all kinds of heritage assets from buildings and monuments to wider landscapes and areas of historic character. Also highlights evidence for the range of benefits (social, economic, and environmental) that active engagement in heritage can bring to people and communities.
Supersedes Heritage counts 2004 - the state of England's historic environment: summary (English Heritage, 2004). Superseded by Heritage counts - the state of England's historic environment 2006 (English Heritage, 2006).
Now known as Historic England, English Heritage produced a wide variety of publications with subjects ranging from repair, conservation and management of the historic environment to funding and grants.
